AI fellow, peds emergency med fellow join UMMC faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.

Stephen LeBlanc, M.D.

Dr. Stephen LeBlanc, recently an allergy and immunology fellow at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.

After receiving his B.S. in microbiology magna cum laude from Mississippi State University in 2006, LeBlanc served as a research assistant in the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology at UMMC from 2006-08. He earned his M.D. in 2012 at UMMC, where he had a medical residency from 2012-15, served as chief resident from 2015-16 and was a fellow of AI from 2016-18.

Inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society at UMMC in 2011, LeBlanc is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He is the author or coauthor of four posters presented at scientific meetings and two articles published in peer-reviewed journals. He also has given a presentation at the Southern Society of Clinical Investigation Regional Meeting.

Matthew Wayne Maready, M.D.

Dr. Matthew Wayne Maready, recently a pediatric emergency medicine fellow at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron, Ohio, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics.

After receiving his B.S. from Mississippi College in 2007, Maready earned his M.D. in 2011 at UMMC, where he had a general pediatrics residency from 2012-15 before beginning his pediatric emergency medicine fellowship in Akron.

Recipient of the 2015 Outstanding Resident Teacher Award at UMMC, Maready has authored or coauthored four posters presented at scientific meetings and four articles printed in peer-reviewed academic journals. He has given five in-hospital lectures and three invited lectures on topics ranging from pediatric trauma to toxicologic emergencies and was an active member of several multidisciplinary hospital committees during his time in Akron.

His current research interest is in resident education, having completed a fellowship research project designing a curriculum for teaching documentation in the emergency department. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Board of Pediatrics and the American College of Emergency Physicians.
